The following study paintings were done during a break in Cornwall. It was a great place to paint the light reflection on the water and contrasting tones.

I spent a few days painting in Lyme Regis in September. Very good for light across the sea and harbour. The harbour is protected by ‘The Cobb’ which provides a great fixed backdrop against the sea.

I like this because the tide made all the boats line up in parallel and it gives a sense of distance and of actually how many boats were moored- I only painted about 50% of them here!!
